The Foreign Office advises against all travel to areas within 30km of the borers with Libya, Mauritania, Mali and Niger or 30km of the border with Tunisia in the provinces of Illizi and Ouargla and in the Chaambi mountains area.
Terrorists are very likely to try to carry out attacks in Algeria, including kidnappings. Terrorist attacks have focused on the Algerian state, but attacks could be indiscriminate and include foreigners. You should be vigilant at all times and take additional security precautions, especially in the Libyan and Tunisian border areas, rural and mountainous areas in the north and the Sahara.
Tensions between Armenia and Azerbaijan over Nagorno-Karabakh continue. The border between Armenia and Azerbaijan is closed. The Foreign and Commonwealth Office FCO advise against all travel to Nagorno-Karabakh and the military occupied area surrounding it, within 5km of the Line of Contact and within 5km of the border with Armenia.
Several ceasefire violations along the Line of Contact separating the opposing forces and elsewhere on the inter-state border between Azerbaijan and Armenia have taken place in , resulting in a number of deaths and casualties.
